Sheree Joy Burlington

Sheree Burlington is a self-taught designer, seeker, humorist and storyteller. Her work is a unique combination of hand drawn & hand carved elements and simple one liners. The result is a fresh, modern look with just a bit of attitude. Her ability to express traditional sentiments with an edgy, contemporary voice, gives her work strong appeal to today’s trendy and sophisticated customer.

In 2015, Sheree took up drawing. In a few months, she filled an entire ream of copy paper with crooked, naive sketches. She figured if she drew enough reindeer, eventually she’d learn how to draw a reindeer.  While that proved incorrect, a distinctive style began to emerge, along with a single facial expression which she calls “straight face.” You’ll find its blank, unblinking stare on pretty much anything with a face.

Much of Sheree’s work is dominated by strong black elements, most created with her own hand carved rubber stamps. “Most of my early designs were created using hand carved stamps. Twelve years later, I again found myself drawn to this art form. Hand carving transforms my sketches, simplifying the lines and giving them an off-beat sense of humor. This make me laugh, and in today’s complex world, laughter is really important.”

In 2000, Sheree left a successful 18 year kitchen design career to pursue self employment. Deluded by images of personal freedom & more family time, she picked the two most misguided reasons in the world to quit a perfectly good job. For the last 12 years she has owned and operated Museware Pottery LLC (or: a small finishware company) in New Hampshire. Rendered fearless by personal loss, Sheree approaches both her life and work with similar determination - “Jump and learn to how to fly before you hit the ground.” Her pottery designs can be found in gift shops nationwide and her licensed art on a variety of different products.
